Our Core Initiatives

Your contributions directly fund and support our three primary pillars of impact, ensuring we can remove barriers and deliver on our mission:

• The Tofino Surf Rescue Course (VILLA's Main Focus): This is our flagship program. We take lifeguards out of the pool environment and train them in the grueling, unpredictable conditions of the Pacific Ocean. Your support keeps registration costs accessible, ensuring our community pool lifeguards are trained at the highest level available in the country. Professionals who intimately understand the cold, the salt, and the heavy surf.

• Lifesaving Sport & Lifeguard Training: We provide specialized mentorship, high-level training pathways, and host regional lifeguard competitions to keep aquatic professionals across Vancouver Island sharp, motivated, and at the top of their game.

• Community First Aid Training: We deliver essential, life-ready first aid skills to community groups, expanding access to education so everyday citizens can act decisively in an emergency.

• Training & Rescue Equipment: High-quality first aid training supplies and heavy-duty water rescue gear (rescue cans, specialized training manikins, tubes, and communication equipment).

• Gas Cards for Volunteer Instructors: Our elite instructors volunteer their highly specialized training and expertise entirely for free. They travel across the island from Victoria to Tofino completely on their own dime. Fuel card donations allow us to directly offset their personal travel costs and show appreciation for their incredible dedication.

• Grocery Store Gift Cards: Feeding a hungry crew after long, grueling days in the ocean is a massive operation. Grocery donations allow us to host our campsite pancake breakfasts and evening campfire cookouts, which are vital for student morale and team-building.

(Note: To support the local economy and our partners on the coast, VILLA does not accept wetsuit or surfboard donations, as we proudly prioritize renting that specialized gear directly from the Tofino campsite vendors to support their local business.)
